The purpose of the program is to connect high school, college students and graduates with working professionals in the industry in an in depth “lunch & learn” style forum. Guest lecturers, will address the audience on core values & trends that undergird the level of leadership that MGP seeks to develop.  Additionally, The Sound Bite serves as a speakers’ bureau for MGP members who have a passion for connecting to audiences around key topics.

Detavio Samuels, President, Interactive One and One Solution/OneX

Detavio is an accomplished marketer with experience on both the client and agency side of the business. In his current capacity, Samuels is responsible for the overall management, strategic vision and growth of the accounts within the Detroit office covering automotive, lending, public sector and retail.

In the digital space he is establishing a presence that continues to be recognized. In 2009 his blog was selected as one of the 100 Best Blogs for MBA Students and he was named one of the Top 30 under 30 Tweeters for his twitterfeed. He spends most of his time discussing ideas to help people and businesses “make amazing happen.”

Prior to joining One Solution, Samuels was President at GlobalHue.  Samuels has also held positions at Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon, working in Global Marketing. While at Ethicon, one of Johnson & Johnson’s largest medical device companies, he worked on the largest brand in one of their fastest growing divisions and was responsible for taking teams to countries like Columbia, Spain and Brazil in order to train surgeons on their products. Before Johnson & Johnson, Samuels attended Stanford University, where he received his master’s degrees in Business Administration and Education. Prior to Stanford, he worked in Account Management at the Fuqua School of Business – Duke University. Samuels completed his undergraduate work at Duke University.

Charles H.F. Davis III

Charles H.F. Davis III is a bourgeoning writer, thinker, and speaker on contemporary issues in American mainstream society. His work, which covers topics such as education, culture, politics, race, and gender & sexual equity, have been featured in popular online media, documentaries, magazines, books, and academic journals. He has been a previous contributing writer to TheRoot, Clutch Magazine, VIBE.com, and The Fresh Xpress. Since 2006, Charles has been an active member of the student development community. He has served in advisory capacities to various student-led social, political, cultural, and greek-letter organizations on college campuses across the country. He is the founding director of the Academy of Achievers mentorship initiative which focuses on increasing the socioacademic achievements of African American male students at the University of Arizona.

In support of his commitment to excellence, Charles has been previously recognized by Who’s Who in American Colleges & Universities, the EnVest Foundation’s Washington D.C. Top 40 Under 40, and InSpire Magazine’s America’s Top 40 Inspirers.
In addition to research, Charles is also currently working on two manuscripts: Black Like You: Critical Self-Reflections on Race, Schooling, and the Identity Politics of Acquiring Blackness and The Agony Continues: Students of Color at White Colleges and Universities (co-author). Charles is currently he Director of Higher Education Research and Initiatives at the University of Pennsylvania Center for the Study of Race & Equity in Education. As the director, he is primarily responsible for managing our portfolio of postsecondary services to include campus climate assessments, diversity trainings and workshops, executive education programs, equity institutes and other professional learning experiences for college faculty and administrators, and commissioned studies related to equity issues in higher education.
